The Company's Board and management team has extensive pharmaceutical company experience covering all aspects of product development including; R&D, product filing and registration activities, intellectual property management and commercialisation.

Professor Ralph Martins, Chief Scientific Officer
Prof. Martins is the founding scientist and Chief Scientific Officer of Alzhyme. He is internationally recognised as a world leader in Alzheimer’s disease research and has built a team of over 25 researchers at the Sir James McCusker Alzheimer’s Disease Research Unit, Hollywood Private Hospital and Edith Cowan University. Professor Martins trained with Professor Colin Masters in the early 1980’s when Professor Master’s group was the first to successfully identify, isolate and characterise the beta-amyloid protein in senile plaques in the human Alzheimer’s brain. Professor Martins was the first to propose and demonstrate that the Alzheimer’s brain was under oxidative stress. Since establishing his own research group in Perth in 1990, Professor Martins and his research team have continued to unravel the disease processes in the ongoing quest for new therapies to treat Alzheimer’s disease. Professor Martins is the Foundation Professor of Ageing and Alzheimer’s Disease at Edith Cowan University and the Founding Director of the Centre of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease Research and Care. He has published over 110 scientific papers and reviews on Alzheimer’s disease.

William Harold Clough, AO OBE, Non-executive Chairman
Mr. Clough is a prominent and highly successful Perth industrialist, entrepreneur and angel investor. He has a wealth of experience in business administration and operations and was on the Senate of the University of Western Australia for twelve years. Mr. Clough is a former Chairman and Director of Clough Limited, holding company for the Clough Engineering Group. He has also held a number of board positions in several Australian companies. Mr. Clough was awarded the Queen's Silver Jubilee Medal in 1977, Office of the Order of the British Empire in 1979, Officer of the Order of Australia in 1990, and received an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Engineering from the University of Western Australia in 1990. His company, McRae Investments Pty Ltd is the founding investor of Alzhyme.

Dr. Marcia Taylor, Non-executive Director
Dr. Taylor is the Director of Research and Innovation at Edith Cowan University. She completed her BSc (Hons) and PhD at the University of Western Australia and then undertook postdoctoral studies as a Glaxo-Wellcome Fellow at the Johns Hopkins Division of Clinical Immunology in Baltimore, Maryland, USA and as a Fogarty Fellow at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Following this, she trained in the area of Target Validation at Chiron Corporation (now Novartis) in California, USA after which she was appointed as Senior Scientist in the Functional Genomics Division at SBIO Pty Ltd, Singapore. At SBIO, she gained expertise in the identification and validation of potential cancer targets using a proprietary anti-sense technology and confirmation in cell-based assays. On her return to Perth she was appointed as R&D Director at Regenera Pty Ltd, a drug development company where she managed the Quality, Regulatory and Scientific Divisions of the company.

Dr. Terry Bayliss, Non-executive Director
Dr. Bayliss is currently the Coordinator of Development Projects and Research at Hollywood Private Hospital. He is a medical graduate of the University of Western Australia and a Fellow of Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators. Dr. Bayliss has worked as a Medical Registrar at both Royal Perth Hospital and Hollywood Private Hospital and between 1994 and 2001 was Director of Medical Services at Hollywood Private Hospital. Dr. Bayliss has been a member of the Board of the McCusker Foundation for Alzheimer’s Disease Research Inc. since its inception in 2000, and served as Chairman during 2006/2007. He is the current Chairperson of the Hollywood Private Hospital Research Ethics Committee and President of the Hollywood Private Hospital Research Foundation. He is also a member of the WA Therapeutics Advisory Group and sits on the Governing Board of the Centre of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease Research and Care.
